My name is Tyler Flammang, I am from Lawton, IA, and I’m very excited to take on the Resource Naturalist position for the Woodbury County Conservation Board. I was raised on a small family acreage in rural Woodbury County Iowa, and from an early age, had been exposed to the wonders of the natural world. From family hikes, camping trips, and visits to zoos, my passion for outdoor experiences and education has only deepened with age. It’s this same passion I look forward to sharing with everyone in the Siouxland community.
For years my hobbies have included, biking, skiing, kayaking, snowshoeing, archery, firearms, paracording, camping, ornithology, herpetology, and photography, just to name a few. I’ve learned much through trial and error with all these topics, and while I’m looking forward to learning more about them, I’m really excited to have opportunities to share my bumps and bruises, success and failure stories with anyone willing to listen. Through it all, I hope to inspire others to give some new hobbies a try and to maybe pick up a few more myself!
I’m eager to hear feedback from the community, with what they would like to see and learn as far as conservation education goes for this area and to do my best to bring those ideas to life. I look forward to making many new relationships through this position and getting everyone in the Siouxland community excited about getting outdoors!
